What are the basic installation steps for these TB Wood's sprockets?
- Align the sprockets properly to equalise the load across the entire belt width.
- Install the belt without forcing it over the sprocket. If extra force is required to install the belt, either remove the sprocket flange or decrease the centre distance between the sprockets.
- Tension the installed belt using general or force deflection method.
Why are idlers required in some TB Wood's sprockets?
Idlers are used in some Synchronous & Timing sprockets for reducing belt whip in assemblies having long centre drives or when obstructions need to be avoided beside the assembly. However, idlers should be avoided wherever possible as they decrease the belt life and the horsepower rating of the system.
