What is the difference between a relay and a contactor?

Relays control contacts of an electrical circuit due to a change of parameters or conditions in the same circuit or any other associated circuit. Contactors, on the other hand, are used to interrupt or establish connections in an electrical circuit repeatedly under different conditions.

What is the difference between reversing and non-reversing starters?

• The difference between reversing and non-reversing starters is the way they control the direction of rotation of an electric motor.
• Non-reversing starter starts & stops an electric motor in one direction only and is generally used in applications that require the motor to rotate in one direction. They are simpler & more cost-effective than reversing starters as they do not require any additional components to change the direction of rotation.
• Reversing starter, on the other hand, starts & stops an electric motor in both forward & reverse directions in applications that require the motor to rotate in either direction. They generally have additional components like relays or contactors to control the direction of rotation.
