Reed Instruments R6200 heat stress meter is ideal for measuring ambient temperature, humidity, pressure, black globe temperature, wet bulb global temperature (WBGT), heat stress index and dew point. It is OSHA recommended to measure the heat stress index telling users how hot it feels by combining humidity with temperature, air movement & radiant heat.

Features:

  • Reed Instruments R6200 heat stress meter has a multi-line backlit LCD to show 4 measurements simultaneously.
  • It has a data hold function to freeze the readings and internal memory to store up to 99 readings.
  • This WBGT meter uses either 4 AAA batteries or an AC adapter for power supply.
  • It has a response time of 1 second and users can select the temperature unit (Celsius or Fahrenheit).
  • This WBGT meter further features user-adjustable WBGT threshold alarm, a low battery indicator and an auto shut off (after 15 mins) mechanism to save battery life, preventing users from heat-related illnesses.
  • It can operate in temperatures ranging from 32 to 122 degrees F (0 to 50 degrees C) and humidity less than 80%.

A. WBGT index is used to indicate the heat stress level by taking temperature, wind speed, humidity, sun angle & cloud cover into account. The black globe temperature (GT) index denotes the combined effects of radiation & wind on the skin when contacted with exposed machinery, tools & containers left in direct sunlight.

Q. How to measure the maximum, minimum & average temperature in this Reed Instruments R6200 heat stress meter?

A.

  • After this WBGT meter is powered on, press the MAX/MIN button to cycle through the maximum, minimum & average temperature measurements of ambient temperature, global temperature and relative humidity.
  • To clear the readings, press & hold the MAX/MIN button till the 'CLr' icon appears at the LCD's bottom. The instrument should return to normal operation.
