2-MD-SC Series Chemical Transfer Pumps
Little Giant Pumps 2-MD-SC Series semi-corrosive chemical transfer pumps are specifically designed for handling semi-corrosive chemicals, including acids, alkalis, solvents, brine, plating solutions, sterile solutions and fluids. They have glass-filled polypropylene impellers to withstand the abrasive effects of particles and solids suspended in the pumped fluid, resulting in long service life. These chemical transfer pumps can be operated at water temperatures up to 150 degrees F. They have seal-less magnetic drive for use in-line, non-submersible applications. These chemical tranfer pumps have nitrile O-rings for preventing leakage. They are equipped with a ceramic thrust washer and shaft for handling thrust loads. These chemical tranfer pumps are available in 115 and 230V variants.

Chemical Transfer Magnetic Drive Pumps
Chemical transfer pumps are designed to circulate mildly corrosive acids, alkalis, plating and sterile solutions and solvents for in cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food industries. Raptor Supplies offers a wide range of low- to medium-flow chemical transfer pumps from brands like Finish Thompson, Grainger and Little Giant Pumps. These pumps feature magnets on the impeller and a motor shaft for transferring full torque of the motor to the pump. With the motor shafts not in direct contact with their wet end, these magnetic-drive pumps are not only able to effectively reduce the occurrence of pump leakage but also the maintenance cost of a mechanical seal. To further reduce human effort, self-priming option is available on selected pumps. These pumps do not require manual filling of the suction pipe with liquid to remove air. Choose from a wide range of magnetic-drive pumps, available in Buna-N, EPDM, FKM, fluoroelastomer and Viton gasket materials, on Raptor Supplies.
Working Mechanism
- Understand the pump basics & its controls to start / stop the pump, control its flow rate and other functions.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilate the area around the pump.
- Connect the pump to an appropriate power source and switch it on.
- Open the inlet & outlet valves and adjust the flow rate using the pump controls.
- As the motor-operated magnet rotates, it rotates the stationary magnet attached to it as well, thereby resulting in the rotation of the impeller and starting the pump operation.
- Monitor the pump during operation.
- After the operation, switch off the pump and close the inlet & outlet valves. Properly store the pump & chemicals used after disconnecting it from the power source.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the advantages of a magnetic drive pump in chemical transfer applications?
- They do not need seals or gaskets and hence are leak-free for safely handling hazardous materials.
- They do not have friction & heat-causing mechanical seals for greater energy efficiency than traditional pumps.
- They have higher durability and handle corrosive chemicals & high-viscosity fluids.
How to choose a chemical transfer magnetic drive pump?
- Check the flow rate & pressure ratings needed for the application.
- Determine the volume & type of chemical to be pumped.
- Check the suction & discharge piping sizes and the connection fittings required.
Can these chemical transfer magnetic drive pumps be used to pump liquids other than chemicals?
Yes, chemical transfer magnetic drive pumps are used for pumping a vast range of liquids like water, oils & other non-corrosive fluids. However, users must check the manufacturer's specifications before operating the pump.
