A. No, it does not require any lubrication as there is no metal-to-metal contact or friction between hubs during operation due to the presence of a spider between the two hubs.
Q. How does a Lovejoy CJ Series coupling work?
A. Lovejoy CJ Series coupling hubs, when attached to a spider, compress the spider and form a complete coupling. The hub's jaws rotate in the same plane to push the driven hub jaws and transfer torque. The compressed elastomeric spider helps in transferring and cushioning the force through coupling absorbers. These absorbers further protect the surrounding components from damage.
Q. How to install Lovejoy 68514462059 jaw coupling hub?
A.
- Place the keys in the shaft keyways.
- Slide the hubs on both shafts over the keys and then align their faces with the shaft end.
- Tighten one set screw on a hub up to its required torque value and lightly tighten the other to handle axial adjustment.
- Insert the chosen spider on any one hub and move the equipment together until the hub face touches the raised dots on the spider surface.
- Align the joined assembly and then tighten the set screw on the loosely tightened hub.
- Finally check the alignment & tightness.
