How does a bonded sealing washer work?

The seal of a bonded sealing washer seals fluids outside the surface & around the fastener. The seal also effectively tightens around the fastener to reduce vibrational noise. The seal backing compresses the bonded seal for acting like a permanent cushion and protecting it from turning fastener heads.

How to install a sealing washer?

Place the washer under the screw / bolt head such that it touches the surface. Make sure that the washer presses against the fastener & other adjacent surfaces and forms a tight connection. Use a wrench or ratchet to tighten the nut or the threaded fastener. The compression caused by tightening leads to sealing.
