Q. How do you position chocks?
A.
- Ensure that the chocks are centered and squared with the tires.
- Position the chocks tightly against the tire treads.
- Use wheel chocks in pairs.
- They must be positioned downhill and below the vehicles' centre of gravity.
- Position the chocks in front of the front wheels, in the case of a downhill grade.
- On an uphill grade, position them behind the rear wheels.
- On a level grade, position these chocks on the back and front of a single wheel.
Q. How do I choose wheel chocks?
A. Ideally, a wheel chock should be about 1/4 of the tire's diameter to fit securely under the tire.
