Q. How do you remove & replace the gas spring on this cabinet?

A.

• Begin by propping up the cover with a piece of wood.
• Remove the lower ball stud nut after loosening it. Access the ball stud's hex through the slot in the gas spring guard and tighten with one wrench while holding the ball stud with another.
• Insert the screwdriver blade into the notch and under the spring clip to remove the gas spring from the cover ball stud. Pry the clip up until the ball stud is released, then remove the spring.
• To avoid accidental cover closure, double-check the piece of wood support holding the cover.
• Remove the ball stud from the old gas spring and insert it into the lower ball stud connector of the new gas spring.
• Insert the ball stud on the rod end of the gas spring through the gas spring guard from the inside.
• Attach the ball stud. Simply push it into the upper ball stud while supporting the cover with your other hand to connect.
