Product Details:
Straight line action clampsare ideal for holding objects securely by moving the clamp plungers along their axis using their push / pull clamping action. These clamps can be locked in only extended position for use as push clamps or in both extended and retracted positions for use as both pull and push clamps. They are used for testing, welding, fixturing, tensioning, CNC machining & plastic injection moulding applications that require frequent clamping and declamping operations. Destaco 640 straight line action clamp of Destaco 640 Series feature a lever handle to move the round sliding plunger that locks in both pulling and pushing direction for holding workpieces. The clamp is equipped with an easy to operate handle that rotates backwards and lock the clamp in the retracted position. It has the longest plunger stroke of Destaco's straight line action clamps and a flanged base for heavy-duty clamping of workpieces & easy mounting. This clamp is made of steel to provide strength & durability and prevent wear & tear caused due to abrasive environments. It has an imperial internal threaded plunger for quick fastening of the imperial threaded spindle to hold workpieces.
Raptor Supplies also offers similar manual clamps having metric internal threaded plungers for accommodating metric threaded spindle assemblies. We also supply these straight line action clamps with Toggle Lock Plus mechanism to prevent accidental opening of the clamp.
Uses:
- This Destaco 640 straight line action clamp is used for assembly, testing, welding and tensioning operations of fixtures in the aerospace, automotive, consumer goods and food & packaging industries.
Features:
- Destaco 640 straight line action clamp is equipped with a round plunger having a height of 0.96 inches and 1/2-13 (imperial) threading.
- It has the longest stroke plunger travel (4 inch) of all Destaco straight line action clamps.
- This clamp has steel construction for structural rigidity and long life, ideal for use in heavy duty operations without breaking or bending.
- It has flanged base mounting style, offering a maximum holding capacity of 7500 lb.
- This clamp locks in both retracted and extended positions for user convenience.
- It also has an easy to hold, ergonomic grip handle that reduces user fatigue over prolonged use.
- The clamp's rotatable handle falls below the mounting plane to lock the clamp in the retracted position.
- It provides an exerting force (pushing) to applied force (pulling) ratio of 35:1.
Compatible Accessories:
- Raptor Supplies delivers a hex head spindle (Destaco 220203) to fit into the plunger of the Destaco 640 clamp for secure holding of the workpieces.
Standards and Approvals:
- Destaco 640 straight line action clamp is manufactured in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2015 standards for user safety, environmental health and efficient performance of the clamp.
Installation:
- Destaco 640 straight line action clamp is mounted to the workpieces or flat surfaces using 3 pairs of threaded holes on the flanged base of the clamp for secure installation.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. What other variants of Destaco 640 clamp are available on Raptor Supplies?
A. Raptor Supplies offers similar manual clamps having M12 (metric) threaded plunger (640-M) to accommodate metric threaded spindle assemblies for holding workpieces. We also supply a similar clamp with the Toggle Lock Plus feature (640-R) to prevent accidental opening of the clamp. For more variants related to Destaco 640 clamp, refer to the Destaco 640 Series Clamps page on our website.
Q. How do straight line action clamps work?
A. Straight line action clamps are operated manually to rotate their levers or handles for pushing clamp plungers against the workpieces and holding them securely.
Q. What are the benefits of using the Toggle Lock Plus mechanism in Destaco manual clamps?
A. Selected Destaco manual clamps have the Toggle Lock Plus feature to act as a secondary locking system for the clamps to make them stay in the over-centre toggle lock condition. This mechanism is useful when fixtures of the clamp are in motion, in a vibratory environment or are inverted. It provides an extra level of safety for the user and the workpiece.
Q. How is clamping force different from the holding force / capacity?
A. The term "holding force or capacity" indicates the ideal strength of the clamp for holding down the equipment, workpiece or sheet metal on the assembly line or during other industrial applications. The holding force is measured during the clamp manufacturing process, so does not provide a practical measure of the capacity of the clamp. Clamping force or exerting force denotes the actual force exerted by the clamp onto the workpieces for holding them. The clamping force is generally lesser than the holding capacity due to several factors like the position of spindles in the clamping bars and the opposing force applied on the clamp.
