Fire Barrier Sealants
3M fire barrier sealants are designed to firestop building joints and curtain wall perimeter joints, as well as through penetration seals for cntrolling the transmission of fire, heat, smoke and noxious gas. These sealants feature elastomeric construction that undergoes a compression / extension test up to +/- 50% of the nominal joint width, without cracking and a water-based formula that cleans up easily. They are to be applied using conventional airless sprayers which quickly dries to form a tough, elastomeric coating. These sealants provide up to 4-hour fire protection in construction joints per ASTM E 1966 (UL 2079) standards and up to 3-hour fire protection in perimeter fire barrier systems.
