About AMS

The AMS catalogue includes soil augers & probes, soil gas samplers, sludge & sediment samplers and geotechnical testing equipment. AMS soil augers are used for obtaining disturbed soil samples at or near the surface. They come equipped with a rubber gripped cross handle with an extension piece for reduced user fatigue. They feature a stainless steel cylinder and high carbon steel bits with a tungsten carbide cutting edge to withstand harsh field abuse.

Things To Consider

Cross-Reference Alternatives

AMS' MPNs cross individual references to the equivalent Humboldt model numbers. So, if you are looking for competitor items that are either out of stock or obsolete, chances are Raptor Supplies has the equivalent AMS soil sampling augers available. Customers can also cross-reference most products using the last 5 digits of the model numbers.

Shipping

AMS soil core samplers and augers are available in lengths ranging from 4 to 8 feet or 11 to 60 inches. These soil augers are available in small to large sizes. Therefore, they require careful packaging as some products might get damaged while shipping. Hence, they are delivered by courier shipment and air freight for minimum downtime.

AMS Competitive Advantages

Direct Push Technology

Direct push rigs offering versatility and ease of mobility. Allow direct push tooling into unconsolidated materials by using the static weight of a hydraulic hammer and the rig. Use hydraulic pressure for driving the tooling into the subsurface but not remove soil, resulting in the creation of a very small borehole.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you use a soil probe?

  • Insert the pointed end into the soil.
  • Push it as deep as you can, then slowly pull up.
  • This helps in taking samples of the soil at several layers and permits the user to feel moisture levels throughout the pot.

How deep should soil samples be taken?

  • Gardens and cultivated crops - 0 to 6 inches
  • Pastures and lawns - more than 6 inches (removing plant residue)
  • Fruit crops and trees - 2 samples should be taken; one at 0 to 8-inch depths and the other at 8 to 16-inch depths.
