Features
- To facilitate the removal of the core from the cylinder, all AMS probes cut a core sample slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the probe body.
- AMS step probes have a built-in step to allow them to be driven by additional pressure.
- Tile probes are ideal for locating buried pipes, underground tanks or utility lines.
- AMS extendable tile probes are intended for probing depths of 12 feet or more. They can also be used to prepare holes for the insertion of small diameter soil / gas vapour probes.
- Turf probes are designed to collect a small soil sample from soddy or grassy areas. The probe slot makes visual inspection and cleaning simple.
- AMS open end probes are used to take shallow soil samples in agricultural applications and come with a cross handle for easy gripping. To facilitate emptying, the 13-inch-long body slot is cut to the end of the probe.
- The replaceable tip soil probes are similar to AMS regular soil probes but include tip replacement facility.
- AMS dual-purpose soil recovery probes have a patented AMS Reach-&-Grab system for collecting continuous soil samples from the surface to depths of 24 inches. They have a slot for collecting samples directly or in a liner.
Working Mechanism
- Insert the pointed end into the soil and press it downwards.
- After reaching the desired depth, retrieve the soil sample by pulling back on the cross handle or tapping upward with a slide hammer.
- Place the sample in the sample container after removing it from the probe.
- Decontaminate the soil probe and repeat the process described above, or add extensions to recover soil samples from the same hole at greater depths.
