Features

  • They are equipped with a T-handle that helps hand tighten the expansion plug into the hole.
  • This brass handle on the plug also offers reduced frictional movement, ideal for liquid or gas pipelines.
  • They come with a neoprene rubber O-ring that is ribbed for better grip, as well as providing superior chemical resistance and improved expansion rates (10-12 per cent).
  • Their steel hardware is electroplated with zinc to help optimise the strength of the plugs.

Standards and Approvals

  • ISO 14001: 2004

Frequently Asked Questions

Can stainless steel hardware be used in mechanical plugs?

Yes, stainless steel hardware can be used in place of zinc-plated steel hardware if your requirements are to boost corrosion resistance and add strength & ductility to weather environmental factors. The stainless steel versions can be ordered on demand.

Are these expandable plugs pressure rated?

No, these expandable plugs are not pressure rated due to unknown surface / environment / containment problems. However, Shaw plugs are mostly recommended for applications rated 15 PSI or higher.

What pipe sizes can I use with Shaw mechanical expansion plugs?

Shaw mechanical expansion plugs can accommodate pipe sizes of 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 7/8 and 1 inch.
