Working Mechanism
- When these Eaton Bussmann Series CLS fuses face high fault currents, their fuse element melts instantly to lose the energy in the surrounding sand.
- The sand melts to form fulgurite, a glass-like substance and increases the arc voltage to approximately twice the system voltage, subsequently forcing the current to zero.
- When these fuses face a low fault, the incoming current melts a solder drop on the silver fuse element.
- The element burns back till a sufficient gap is established to interrupt the current. This process is commonly known as the M-effect.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are these Eaton Bussmann Series CLS fuses made of?
These precision-calibrated fuses have fiberglass-reinforced resin housing with copper-plated contact caps that are magneformed onto the housing for optimum strength. They are filled with high-purity silica sand & silver elements for efficient protection. A durable label is located on each fuse to provide ratings & manufacturer information.
How are these Eaton Bussmann Series CLS fuses mounted?
Eaton current limiting fuses feature standard industry mounting sizes. Their mountings have either disconnect or non-disconnect designs. All Eaton current limiting fuses & mountings are easy to install and operate. These R-rated motor starter fuses feature an integral hookeye for connecting to AMPGARD switchgear or have a standard clip-style mounting for easy installation.
