EATON AR/ARD Series Industrial Control Relays
Eaton AR / ARD Series industrial control relays are used to control the operation of motors, lighting systems, valves, pumps, conveyors, and other equipment in industrial settings. AR relays are available in four- or six-pole configurations and are field convertible to eight-or ten-poles by sim...ply adding a four-pole deck. They use a permanent magnet to hold the relay contacts in a latched / locked position until reset by an external signal. The contacts in these relays are wide-spaced to simplify installation and allow easy testing and maintenance.Read more

Working Mechanism
- By energising the relay coil, the latch attachment sets, holding the relay in an ON state, even after the relay coil has been de-energised.
- As the coil on the latch is energised again, the armature / crossbar assembly releases and change the state of the relay.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the function of a surge suppressor?
- A surge suppressor is used in industrial control relays to protect them from voltage surges and transients.
- These surges can be caused by lightning strikes, power outages or other electrical disturbances.
- The suppressor diverts the excess voltage away from the relay and into a ground connection, protecting the relay from damage.
What are convertible relays?
Convertible relays have a set of normally open and normally closed contacts that can be switched with each other, making them more versatile to be used in a variety of applications. The field conversation can be done by a user either manually or by software, depending on the relay design.
What are overlap contacts?
- Overlap contacts are used in industrial relays and are designed to overlap each other while creating a larger contact area to reduce the risk of arching & contact erosion.
- The increased contact area also reduces the electrical resistance and heat generated by the contact.
- These contacts can handle high current and voltage, making them ideal for motor controls, power generation and other high-power industrial applications.
