This prevents the independent movement of the attached hubs / gears / components from the rotating shaft / spindle and ensures better torque transfer. How to install a woodruff key?

- Allign the flat surface parallel to the shaft. The key face may extend above the shaft's surface to lock the mated component in place.
- During installation, if the key slips out of the grooved key slot, then either the size is too small or the key is not press-fitted properly.
