How to set a split rivet?
- Make sure you've punched a hole in each piece of leather before you set your rivet.
- To accomplish this, use a simple punch tool and a rawhide mallet.
- Insert the split rivet through the leather. Stack multiple pieces of leather onto the rivet if you're using more than one.
- Put a washer on the back side of the rivet to keep it from pulling through the leather.
- Insert the split rivet die between the two prongs. To open the prongs, strike the tool with a rawhide mallet.
