Frequently Asked Questions
How to install a sleeve anchor?
- Drill a hole of the same diameter as the anchor diameter and at least 1/2 to 1 inch deeper than the expected embedment, using a hammer drill and carbide-tipped drill bit.
- Remove all debris from the hole.
- Set the nut flush with the sleeve anchor's top.
- Insert the sleeve anchor into the hole in the base material through the fixture until the washer and nut are tight against the fixture.
- Tighten the nut with your finger.
- Set the anchor with a wrench by turning the nut three to four times.
How to remove stubborn bolts / sleeve anchors?
- If the bolt is rusted, use a penetrating lubricant. You may need to wait a while for the lubricant to take effect.
- A bolt extractor can be used on stubborn bolts. Attach the extractor to the end of a drill and extract the bolt with it. You may need to drill into the concrete to reach the bolt's base first.
- You might be able to remove concrete bolts with an awl. Hard taps with a hammer may cause it to cut through the anchor. Remove the anchor parts using needle nose pliers.
