Selected punch set tools from General are best suited for punching round holes in sheet metal, gasket materials, leather, canvas, plastic and flexible rubber workpieces. They feature an inside taper that ensures maximum clearance for ease-of-use and heat-treated forged steel construction that withstands harsh industrial abuse while ensuring long-term durability. Selected chisel sets from Stanley feature a tempered & hardened chrome carbon-steel blade that ensures edge retention over repeated usage and a bi-material handle for resistance against impacts & electrical shocks.
Centre punches are used to mark the centre point, especially when drilling holes, for precision.
Taper punches are ideal for aligning existing holes in two or more work pieces prior to bolting or riveting. However, roll pin punches, also known as pilot punches, are used to drive or remove hollow tension pins, such as tapered and rolled or solid pins.
They are mostly made of high carbon steel that has been heat treated.
