Parallels
Parallels are hardened & ground steel pieces with precision ground parallel edges used to support a workpiece that has an uneven surface, as well as for measuring, precision spacing and transferring dimension of objects. Raptor Supplies offers a wide variety of adjustable / non-adjustable Browne & Sharpe, Mitutoyo and Starrett precision parallels, ideal for machining operations, such as milling, drilling, turning and grinding. They are available in a measuring range of 1-3/4 to 2-1/4 inches and a maximum length and width of 6 and 9/32 inches respectively. The ten pair parallel sets from Browne & Sharpe are made from high-grade alloy steel that provides resistance against wear and corrosion, and each parallel has 2 holes for separating and keeping them in position. For ease of installation, Mitutoyo ultra-precision parallels can be quickly inserted into openings and expanded to the exact size which can then be measured with a micrometer. They slide smoothly on each other and can be easily locked into positions by using just set screws.
